New Works by Hikari Shimoda on View in Los Angeles

Hikari Shimoda unveiled her new series of paintings in Los Angeles this week. Entitled "People of Intentions", the series is a continuation of themes from her recent solo, "Silence and Affirmation". Hikari's works, which include her first lifesize sculptures, are shown alongside new works by artists Handiedan, Ian Francis and Kai and Sunny.

During the virtual opening hosted by Corey Helford Gallery, Hikari shared: "In recent years, I've noticed that young people are becoming more expressive and letting their opinions be heard. This is especially the case during the pandemic. The words of young people are standing out more and more. For this show, I wanted to expand on my portraits of children and portray them as people who live by their own ideas."

Hikari's original paintings are sold out, but there are still a few editions left of her sculptures. To inquire about the sculptures, or to schedule an appointment to see them in person, please email the gallery at [email protected].

Hikari's works will be on view October 3rd through November 7th:
